
The Social Services/Community Outreach Division of the Elyria City Health District provides information and referrals related to health and human services available in the community. This area is staffed by Outreach Workers who assist clients in identifying barriers that may hinder their ability to obtain services for themselves and their families.
Our philosophy of "no wrong door" means we will help find information regarding available resources for individuals seeking our assistance whenever possible.
Common situations where we can provide referrals or facilitate access:
- Food, housing, emergency shelter, utility bills
- Application process for public assistance: Healthy Start, food stamps, Medicaid
- Health care
- Legal referrals
- Job training or employment opportunities
- Earning your GED, returning to school, completing one's education
- Relationship problems with family members or others
- Loneliness, anxiety or depression
- Difficulty in adjusting to or coping with a new infant
- Alcohol and drug abuse
- Difficulty with transportation
- Child Care Resources
- Parenting or Developmental Questions Concerning Children
